Jason & Elizabeth - Trash The Dress

Not long after the ANTI-workshop I had the opportunity to do a "Trash The Dress" session. I speak of that workshop and this TTD session together because John Michael Cooper is the dress trashing master, he basically invented the genre!

Anyway, HUGE props to Jason & Elizabeth for being game for this! Sorry Elizabeth, your dress will never be the same! ;) Oh well, it was just going to sit in a closet anyway. :p

Here are a few shots.

Jason & Elizabeth weren't the only wet ones that day. These shots would not have been possible unless I got in the water as well! I'll never ask people to do something I'm not willing to do. Wasn't exactly the warmest day, but totally worth it!

This image I was going to put in a magazine as an ad, but every one I showed it to said it was "too scary" to be a wedding ad. I just love this shot though, I don't think it's scary, but I remember how much fun we were having taking it! :) I opted not to run the ad, but maybe I should anyway, what do you all think?

Anti-Workshop Seattle

I know, I know, I'm a late blogger, but better late then never right!  :)

I had the privilege of going to The ANTI-workshop last year in Seattle.  Click the link, click past events, click Seattle;  that's me attempting "Blue Steel" with an inflatable pig!  :)  LOL!

Many thanks to John & Dalisa Cooper of altF in Las Vegas and Doug & Chenin Boutwell of Boutwell Studio in SoCal.  This workshop was full of information and inspiration which helped push my photography to new and exciting places.

Here is a (anti) portrait I took of John Michael Cooper during this workshop.  :)

I also want to send a big thank you to Marisa Holmes.  Marisa is a photographer from Southern California who volunteered to be our model for the day, we shot some different & fun shots.  Here are a few of my favorites!  :)

Sam & Amy

Here's a few of my favorite images from a wedding last year. Their ceremony took place at The Wedding Gardens just outside of Stony Plain, most of these images are from this beautiful venue. We went downtown Edmonton for some fun shots. :)

The Traveling Shovel

Ok, ok, ok.... I'm totally crazy! I admit it. I'm ok with that fact though, because I know that I am not alone!!! :) A bunch of photographers from all around the world decided to take pictures of a shovel. Why you ask? I told you, because we are crazy! :)

It actually all started with a shoot in the desert outside of Las Vegas in which amazing photographer
John Michael Cooper
used a shovel for a prop in an image. Then we got this crazy idea to send the shovel all over the world being photographed in fun and unique ways. Keep track of the shovel in all it's glory at
The Traveling Shovel
web site.

The shovel has been lost, watch an update and initiation of a new shovel in
this
video.

My collection of images are with the original shovel. It was the shovels first visit to Canada, so I had to show him what Edmonton and Canada are all about!  :)  We will miss you buddy! *single tear*

Brian & Carolyn

I had a great time at Brian & Carolyn's wedding.  They are a very fun couple and were up for any of my idea's.  I got some great images from their wedding, you'll recognize the first image from my home page and gallery. If you are looking for an amazing web designer in Edmonton, talk to Brian!  He did a fantastic job with my web site!  :)

Mark Salamandick

Mark is an comedian based in Edmonton.  Mark wanted to do some non-traditional head shots, so we went out and had a great time getting some great shots.  Mark kept me in stitches the entire shoot!  :)

I was watching TV the other day and I saw in a City TV commercial someone being interviewed in a local comedy club.  Whose picture was hanging in the background?  Why it was Mark's head shot that I took (the first one in this series)!  I guess that makes us both super famous!!!  ;)

Adam & Brette

Adam & Brette are some friends of mine.  I was actually a groomsman in this wedding, not the photographer.  But I was able to get a nice shot anyway.  The black & white is from when they first started dating.

James & Lauren

James is a fellow photographer, that I had the honor to photograph.  He travelled all the way to Alberta Canada to meet up with his girlfriend. James and Lauren are amazing people, they were really able to be themselves in front of the camera. James!  Next time I'm in Australia, your gonna have to take my pictures!  :)

Little Emily

Emily's mom wanted to capture all the fun and personality that lives in her little girl through photographs. This was a fun shoot, Emily is such a little character and had a great time being herself in front of the camera. My favorite image from the shoot made it into the portrait gallery on my web site. Thanks Sherri for choosing me as your photographer! :)

Roshan & Karene

These are from the first wedding I did after I started J Leon Photography here in the Edmonton - Spruce Grove area.
Roshan & Karene are such beautiful, kind, and loving people.

It was such a gorgeous day at the Devonian Gardens, we couldn't have asked for better weather.

Roshan & Karene decided to have this amazing drum group at their reception.
They put on a good show and everyone had a blast dancing!  :)
